Capilano Fish Hatchery

Pacific Salmon stay in the Pacific Ocean for 1 to 7 years and travel to Siberia to California.

Cleveland Dam above hatchery provides hydro electric power to run the hatchery.

When the young fish come out of the hatchery trays from hatching and absorbing their egg sacks, they first go to these circular rearing ponds.

Juvenile fish are reared in outdoor cement ponds and fed 12 times daily.  Notice the netting to keep birds and other predators out.
